Classrooms of the Future Resources:

Visit the Classrooms of the Future Planning Wiki for more resources.  The NAIS Classrooms of the Future is a place to experience pedagogy and technology that takes learning beyond walls, time, and space of the traditional classroom. The area offered three different experiences for attendees: Featured Workshops, the Demonstration Classroom, and the hands-on Exploration Station.

 

 

 

Classroom of the Future Workshops
There were six featured workshops that occurred in conjunction with the Classrooms of the Future. Designed for engagement, the workshops looked at new ways of teaching and learning. They featured new tools and technology, examples of situated learning, and theories related to learning in the 21st century. Demonstration Classroom
The Demonstration Classroom featured eight scheduled demonstration sessions. Each one included a focused 20-minute demonstration of single concept, method, tool, and/or theory related to teaching/learning in the 21st century. In the Classroom of the Future, everyone is a learner. Ideas, expertise, and experiences were shared so all ciykd benefit from the collective and practical wisdom of participants.

Exploration Station
In addition to the presentations and demonstrations, participants had the opportunity to personally experience 21st century technologies and pedagogies. The hands-on Exploration Station surrounded the demonstration classroom and consisted of 10 interactive stations. Attendees could create their first blogadd to an existing wiki or create their owncreate podcasts, or subscribe to RSS feeds specific interest areas. There was web-based software available to create a dream classroom or share a digital story with the world.  Other exploration opportunities included interactive whiteboards, student response systems, and video conferencing; and/or explore distributed learning through various learning management systems such as Moodle.
